Gin-ers are grinners at the InterContinental Perth! My goodness, I love sipping on a gin cocktail in the sunshine. The beautiful new hotel is launching the perfect way to indulge with the girls – a Gin High Tea. This spring, head to The Loft Lounge and Bar for a tratitional high tea with a twist on the rooftop terrace.
The Loft Lounge and Bar at InterContinental Perth, in the heart of Perth’s West End, is a stunner. From soft furnishings and linen tablecloths, to the sun-drenched deck.
The Gin Cocktails
High tea is the perfect reason for a decadent girly catch up. I took my Mum along to The Loft for an afternoon tea. First, we were served our cocktails – there are 6 to pick from. I loved the “Nice And Sloe” made from Plymouth sloe gin with Fever Tree lemon tonic, T2 French earl grey tea, and garnished with lemon and plump blueberrires.
The “Keep Your Gin Up” is equally impressive, with Gin Mare, Fever Tree Mediterranean tonic, T2 lemongrass and ginger tea, olives, rosemary and navel orange with its fruity and savoury flavours.
For a non-alcoholic option – there are T2 iced teas.
The High Tea
The Loft’s high tea is a mix of savoury and sweet morsels. On the savoury tier there’s dainty finger sandwiches, mini wraps and rolls with tasty fillings…
- Coronation chicken
- Westland’s Honey glazed ham, Dijon, dill pickle
- Cucumber, dill and cream cheese
- Shark Bay poached Prawn, tomato and chive brioche roll
And for the sweets, I loved to see so many gin-themed treats created by Chef de Cuisine, Nic Trezise…
- light and fluffy buttermilk scones with clotted cream and jam
- Lime macaroon
- Gin and tonic cup cake
- Lime and Gin Tart
- Strawberry and gin mousse
And no high tea is complete without the tea! T2 is poured from glass teapots. There are lots of different blends to enjoy, as well as barista made coffee.
The Gluten Factor
Sometimes we gluten-free folk may miss out on many yummy components of a high tea, I was happy to see not a lot had to be swapped out for gluten free options. Apart from the breads, it remained fairly similar. I was so pleased with their gluten free offering at the Loft.
The Details
At $65 per person (includes a gin cocktail, plus endless tea and coffee), it is brilliant value. High Tea is always a good idea, and for gin aficionados, the new Gin High Tea experience at classy ‘lil spot The Loft Lounge and Bar is a must do.
Gin High Tea is available each and every Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
