Finlay and Sons, Inglewood

Finlay & Sons no 917 Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

We all know the city end of Beaufort Street gets a lot of attention, but I keep finding myself drawn to the quieter, leafy Inglewood end of the foodie street. It’s a good excuse to pop into the brilliant Black Pig Deli, and there are excellent cafes in this neck of the woods too.

One such spot is Finlay and Sons!

The café has a bustling atmosphere, and on-trend feel with large metal light fittings and lush green indoor plants.

First, we order coffee.

The Food

I was stoked that I didn’t just have one, or two but TWELVE gluten free brunch choices on the menu. I was actually spoiled for choice, though I just had to pick the French toast because I’ve not had that for years. This gluten free version is made from friands, an almond cake. The French toast ($20) is smothered in sweet maple cinnamon ricotta, spiced poached pear, and crispy almond praline.

Though I fell on love with the French toast, I had a MASSIVE bout of food envy with the dish my Mum chose. The hash brown benny ($17.50) is pretty epic – especially when you add a cheeky side of bacon ($6.50).The eggs benedict dish with gooey poached eggs and wilted spinach, covered in lashings of hollandaise sauce, is served on crisp hash browns. The long strip of thick cut bacon elevated this dish to drool worthy status.

Let’s have a closer look at the bacon….

My Dad enjoyed something a little more lunch-y from the all-day menu. He was particularly happy with the tasty meat on the open steak sandwich ($18), with rocket, caramelised onion, tomato, Danish fetta and a chipotle aioli.

In a rush? There’s a handy coffee window.

We were all impressed with this cute lil brunch spot. Chatting to our waitress I found out that it’s a small family run business where she and a couple of other family members have a gluten intolerance. Because of this they like to offer lots of GF options and are very gluten aware. This really put my mind at ease and gluten intolerant or not, I’d recommend Finlay and Sons to everyone for a top notch brunch in Perth!
