About 4 or 5 years ago Tuck Shop in Northbridge was the go-to place for brunch in Perth. Chef and I had very high expectations of the popular café, which were easily met when we visited back in 2015. It seemed to have fallen off my radar, and so when we visited recently, we weren’t too sure what to expect. The still-popular café was very busy, and after a little wait for a table, we squeezed in for brunch.

First, we had a coffee (Toby’s Estate), while looking over the menu with has all day brunch and lunch options, as well as many Asian fusion dishes. It was nice to see a few favourites, like their crisp pork belly dish, had remained on the menu.

The Food
The service at Tuckshop cafe is friendly. Chef absolutely loved the Nasi goreng. He’d not usually pick a rice dish for brekkie, but feeling adventurous, he chowed down on the Asian dish with chicken, veggies and a chilli kick.

I had the bruschetta (on GF bread) with fresh tomato and avocado, crisp bacon, and a little goats’ curd. This is a tasty and super fresh dish.

And if you’ve forgotten about that pork belly dish… here’s our dish of the crispy deep-fried belly (topped with a sunny side up fried egg) on our last visit…

As well as tasty brunches ‘n lunches, Tuck Shop is also renowned for their homemade pies. Little Chef was keen to try the beef, cheese and bacon pie, encased in golden pastry – it looked absolutely to die for. What I would have given for a nibble or two!

We were so pleased that Tuck Shop delivered the good four years after our last visit. Well worth stopping by for brunch, lunch or to tuck into a pie!
