Snags & Sons, Leederville {CLOSED}

Snags and Sons on Urbanspoon

*Cheap Eats*

Whether you crave a banger, snag or a plain old sausage; you’ll LOVE Snags and Sons! Situated opposite the Leederville Hotel on Newcastle Street, we popped there with Little Chef for a bit to eat last week. We’d been talking about going there for a gourmet hot dog for some time. Chef is a closet Bunning’s sausage sizzle addict, so I knew he’d be totally up for my suggestion.

They have hot dogs from all over the world; New York Hot Dogs, Bratwurst, Kranski…  We had;

Chef chose the “Toulouse” an ode to all things French (he is addicted to watching the tour de France at the moment!) – it is topped with bacon, caramelised onion, warm brie and Dijon mustard (solo $8, Meal $13).

In a nod to my British roots I chose the “Ye Olde Banger” hot dog. Topped with cheddar, HP sauce, bacon, onions & mustard (solo $8, Meal $13) The Pom in me loves a bit of HP, so I loved this hot dog. The freshly made sausage was delicious. I ordered this as a meal. That includes… really tasty, tangy slaw and a lovely little baked potato with candied bacon, swiss cheese & sour cream. A-Mazing sides!!

Little chef tucked into a NY Hot dog slider ($5). He thought it was, in his words, “really awesomely yummy”.

They also sell freshly made sausages and small goods to take away to cook at home. The brekkie menu includes a free range bacon butty and a sausage sanger. All meat used is local, Amelia Park lamb, Liney Valley pork, Blackwood Valley beef – they even have a Margaret River made vegan sausage. The menu changes frequently. As well as gourmet hot dogs, they offer soups, Cassoulet of pork, Pork Pie & Piccalilli, Pan Fried gnocchi with pancetta, salads, pulled pork tortilla wraps…. Basically, it’s a pork lover’s paradise!!
