Madison Cottage – High Tea {CLOSED}

IMG_0039 (2)One of my lovely friends had a baby this month. It’s so exciting and it was lovely to see the new mamma and to have a cuddle with her beautiful bub – I love that new baby smell!!

Mrs H isn’t one for a lot of fuss. She didn’t want a baby shower, but Miss S and I just couldn’t let the occasion of her first baby go by without doing anything for her. So we organised a high tea for three at the lovely Madison Cottage in Guildford. It was fitting as the mum to be was the person who first introduced me to this gorgeous little café.2013-07-13 15.06.04

The first time we visited Maddy’s we were there for coffee and cake. We soon found out their specialty is high teas and made a promise to go back to try that. We sat in the quaint little cottage, surrounded by a whole manner of vintage items. We had;

The three tiered china platter was absolutely brimming with sweet and savoury treats. The savouries were a selection of vol au vounts, finger sandwiches (like dill and cucumber) and mini savoury tarts. Our scrumptious selection of sweets were; scones with jam and cream, fruit tarts, cake, meringue and a chocolate truffle.IMG_0040

The tea and coffee available at Maddy’s is excellent quality. They serve T2 and Yahava respectively. I had a pot of a refreshing sweet fruity tea and then I tried a pot of chai (my fave).

There is also giftware for sale; girly, shabby chic and French inspired home wares. The back room is a perfect room for a private high tea, for a group. The high tea is $32, which includes endless tea and coffee and the sitting takes about 2 hours.2013-07-13 15.05.36

The staff are very welcoming. “Maddy’s” is a fantastic place for a girly catch up, it has a lovely atmosphere and I just love their miss-match shabby chic crockery – it’s all in the detail. I’ve said it before, but you really can tell a lot of love has been put into this super cute café.IMG_20130713_202220
