Looking for a luxe vay-cay in Southwest WA? The newest villas on the Margaret River block are also the most memorable that I’ve stayed at in the wine region and I don’t say that lightly. From unparalleled levels of luxury and design, to an incredible lakeside location, plus detailed curation that makes you feel right at home. Be sure to pop Edge Luxury Villas Margaret River straight to the top of your “to stay” list!

These four villas, perched on a pristine lake, are found in the heart of Margaret River’s “Golden Triangle”. For wine connoisseurs, this is the epicenter of the region’s premium wine offering. Margs, and more specifically Wilyabrup, is home to many of the world’s best chardonnays and cabernets. At Edge Luxury Villas, legendary wineries like Cullen, Woodlands, Moss Wood and Clairault within a few minutes’ drive. The villas are also close to breweries, gourmet food spots, country towns, world-famous beaches, ancient caves and more.

Our Stay at Edge Luxury Villas – Villa One
Leaning on the balcony balustrade of Villa One, staring at the mirror-like lake, the secluded spot feels a million miles away from suburbia. All I hear is birdsong, a slight breeze rustling through the bushland, and the whoosh of waterbird’s wings as they come into land on the lake. There’s nowhere else in the region you can stay above the water like this, and it is so calming.

A passion project by locals Clare and Cameron, Edge Luxury Villas welcomed its first guests on Boxing Day 2023. Before its first big birthday milestone, the special spot has already played host to wedding anniversary and birthday celebrations, proposals, honeymoons, babymoons and more. You don’t need a special occasion to enjoy a stay here, but I thoroughly recommend bringing your special someone.

Mr H and I relished our three-day getaway at Edge. As we drove through the grand gates, and down the tree-lined avenue, the villas came into view, and we couldn’t get out of the car quick enough! Our home for a few days was the premium Villa One. All the villas are finished to a luxe spec, though Villa One takes this to another level with its spaciousness and feature double bathtub. It’s worth noting that this also doubles as their accessible villa, so nobody (whatever your physical ability) needs to miss out on a bit of pampering.

The one-bedroom villas may seem close together, particularly for a couple’s getaway, but I can assure you that you’ll feel as though you have the whole place to yourself. The award-winning villas have been designed to filter out noise with extra insulation built into its walls and top-spec features. We didn’t hear a peep! The excellent insulation also meant that the self-contained villa felt warm and cosy, even though it was a chilly early spring day outside.
Just a few of my favourite features:
The two-person bath. All the villas have a bath with a lake view, but only the premium Villa One has the supersized tub. This fills quickly and includes bubble bath with a dreamy view.

The king size bed is comfy, spacious and includes quality linen. The mattress is that right mix of firmness, with a comfortable pillow-top feel. A remote control is next to the bed, for the automatic blinds, meaning you don’t have to get out of bed to enjoy sunrise over the lake.

The wood heater. It’s not just a down south stay in winter (or the cooler shoulder months) without a cosy log fire!

The well-appointed kitchen (with fridge, dishwasher, appliances and utensils neatly hidden away), complete with Smeg coffee maker and excellent Margaret River Roasting Co ground beans. Even if you don’t usually use these types of coffee machines, there are easy to follow instructions included. A quality coffee on the balcony is the best start to a day at Edge.

There are too many more features to mention… Whatever fills you with joy, from a freshly brewed loose leaf herbal tea, to a rainfall shower, fluffy bath robes, and a board game or two, you’re sure to find it here, in an Edge Luxury Villa.

We spent an afternoon grazing and sipping at nearby Beerfarm, Servo Taphouse and Fishbone Winery (where I was so excited to meet the lead singer of one of my favourite Aussie bands, Baden from Ocean Alley). While we were in Cowaramup, we grabbed a few provisions from Gourmet Food Merchant and made an easy platter to enjoy on the balcony with a Margaret River tipple or two.

The Clairault Pinot Noir Rose (a light rose with berry and nougat notes) is a winner.

Different Villa Options at Edge Luxury Villas
I had a peek into the other villas too, and they are just as impressive. They are slightly smaller than our Villa One, though are very similar in style and have a standard sized bath. I just loved the two-way fireplace that separates the living space from the bedroom.

There’s plenty to do at Edge Luxury Villas Margaret River. Obviously, relaxation is high on the agenda, and so easy to do here. A wander around to lake to the bridge (built by Cameron) and island is a must. Be sure to take a tiptoe through the trees too and see what nature you spy there. Sitting on the water’s edge balcony is a totally unique thing to do in Margaret River, and there’s plenty of native birds to spot from the comfy outdoor sofa.

In summer (or on a sunny spring day, like Mr H, lol), bring your bathers and take a dip in the crystal-clear lake. I didn’t bring mine, thinking it would be too cold, but boy was I wrong. I couldn’t get Mr H out of the water, he just loved diving from the jetty.

Edge is a place for all seasons, and all times of the day or night. We were treated to a fabulous foggy morning with mist hovering over the lake. By night, the bridge is lit just after sunset, and you’ll see millions of stars on a clear evening.

Whatever your reason for staying at Edge Luxury Villas, one thing is for sure, you’ll wish you booked an extra night or two!
