October is a month where the Swan Valley Springs back to life. Sunny days bring long lunches, new leaves sprouting from the vines and the popular Entwined in the Swan Valley festival. New for 2024, the festival spans not just a weekend or two, but the whole month (4-27 Oct). I hopped on a minibus tour recently with a group of hungry Perth jurnos and delved into just a few of the upcoming events:

Yahava Swan Valley are hosting a traditional “Jebena Buna” Ethiopian coffee ceremony. I helped roast Single origin Ethiopian beans over hot coals, that were then grinded & poured Ethiopian style.
I relished an Asparagus Masterclass at Edgecombe Winery with Alfred Edgecombe. Followed by a wine tasting, & delicious lunch (with LOTS of asparagus!).
Next stop was Funk Brewshed (previously Funk 2.0) for a brewery tour and top notch share food. Try the crocodile chorizo and thank me later! Their Malts & Brew workshop, is an adventure all about grains & their brewing processes, followed by a beer tasting.
Talijancich Wwines have a Fortified Blending Class with James Talijancich. Find out all about the process of blending & making liqueurs in their old barrel room. Trust me, they have got to be tasted!
“Starlit Sips and Tapas” at Olive Farm Wines will combine share plates by the neighbouring Tapas Bar, wine and impressive telescopes. Spy the milky way, planets & more – it promises to be out of this world!
Champagne and Gumboots (a fave of mine) is an 100% gluten free & Coeliac Australia accredited bakery. Especially for Entwined, they’re holding a GF high tea! Head Baker-Owner Stacey will be whipping up scrumptious gluten-free goodies.
Swan Settlers Market is home to Sin Gin Distillery who are hosting a fun Cocktail Workshop! Shake up a cocktail using their award-winning gins & liqueurs. Plus, take home your own cocktail shaker kit.
Plus during Entwined in the Swan Valley, they’ll be a long table lunch at Oakover Grouds, Smokey BBQ Tasters at Valley Social, Beekeeping Experience at The House of Honey, markets, family activities, art events and MORE!
