Funk 2.0 , Henley Brook

The Swan Valley is known for many things… wine, craft beer, artisan gourmet goodies and fresh produce. The area is not immediately known for cider making, but my goodness, is it a good fit! The food and drink mecca has been home to the popular, casual hang out, Funk Cider for a few years. Now the guys behind Funk have opened a more “grown up” spot, aptly named Funk 2.0 , in the venue that was formerly the original Evans and Tate winery.

As well as cider, Funk 2.0 crafts their own beers and wines. And good news if you’re off the booze – their Michael Bros range of sodas are so good! The friendly, knowledgeable and passionate staff will guide you through your drinks choice. They love to get experimental with flours, so they ‘res sure to be interesting flavour combos.

We pulled up a chair next to the roaring fireplace. There’s plenty of seating inside, and out on the deck overlooking the vines.

Funk 2.0 – The Food

I popped by for lunch, to check out their Plating Up WA offering for the month of June. This very tasty platter for two ($38pp) is jam packed with premium West Aussie produce.

Perfectly medium-rare Harvey beef cap is served atop well seasoned local kipfler potatoes and baby carrots. A herby chimichurri and grilled spring onion finish of this fantastic dish. (gfo) Get more information on Plating Up WA here.

And just incase all that wasn’t enough… we ordered a sneaky roast pumpkin side salad too. It was brimming with fresh herbs and jewel-like pomegranate, then finished with a subtle strawberry caramel. So good!

Be sure to head to this fantastic Swan Valley spot. Like us, you’ll be sure to want to make a return visit to Funk 2.0!
