If you’re on a health kick for 2020, or just love a guilt free bite – be sure to check out Monty’s Scarborough. The menu at the little café packs a big punch with fresh, nutrient rich produce – think acai and poke bowls. There’s plenty of gluten free, vegan and vego options. It’s also a grand spot for a bit of people watching, on the Scarbs café strip.
The popular coffee and brunch spot has a small, dog friendly alfresco area which overlooks the famous Scarborough clock. The snug café has a few tables inside too.

If you love a freshly squeezed juice, there’s plenty to pick from. A “Sweet Red” watermelon, apple and strawberry juice was delicious.

The locally roasted Darkstar coffee is good too.

There were several tastebud tempters on the menu, I picked a breakfast stack. I loved a crisp potato rosti, field mushroom, haloumi, runny poached egg, avo, spinach, toasted seeds, edamame beans and relish.

Other dishes enjoyed at our table included sweet potato and zucchini patties ($18), with two poached eggs, haloumi, spinach and a tasty red pepper relish.

A spicy Huevos Rancheros ($19) went down a treat too. The Mexican eggs dish with spiced beans, jalapenos, avocado, sour cream, roasted peppers, and sourdough bread on the side for dipping.

The waitstaff are chatty and helpful. We all found the food was fresh and well cooked – I’d happily return to Monty’s for more.
