I was invited along to Foam Coffee Bar in Leederville on the promise of copious amounts of bacon and it didn’t disappoint. I couldn’t tie busy Chef down for a brunch date and then Little Chef was struck down with a bout of chicken pox. I thought that I’d never get my bacon fix!
My brunch date was Foam’s marketing guru, the lovely Meg Coffey. Admittedly I was excited to meet such a prominent Perth social media figure too. We had much to chat about over brunch at the bustling café on the Oxford Street strip.
Foam has a feel of a neighbourhood café. People are constantly coming and going, their hands brimming with take away coffees and sweet treats. There’s not a spare table in the house with lots of people taking time to enjoy brunch with friends too. I was in need of a caffeine hit and the coffee came out hot and fast! The roast at Foam is Five Senses, which is one of my favourite coffees, as it is always so smooth. Love the tiny teddies too 😉
When Meg is onto a good thing, she sticks to it – and why not! She chose her breakfast favourite of poached eggs on toast with a side of avocado.
I chose the wild mushroom trio, $15. A tasty mound of mushrooms sits on top of a slice of buttery toasted brioche with a runny poached egg and chives. I added a side of Cajun spiced bacon for an extra $5. Foam’s bacon ain’t no ordinary bacon. The kitchen team house smokes and cut it themselves, making the porky morsels lovely and thick! It has a really deep flavour too. I’m totally in love with it.
Next time I may up the ante in the bacon stakes and order the Canadian pancakes with maple syrup and house smoked bacon or the “Go Bananas” a decadent grilled house smoked bacon and banana dish, with house made banana bread, gusto vanilla bean gelato and Canadian maple syrup. They sound very naughty though!
Big thanks to Meg and the Foam team for inviting me down for brunch, I really enjoyed it!
Looks awesome! Will need to check it out sometime!
