I went to a charity Quiz night, for 9 Lives Cat Rescue, in South Perth. It’s a Perth non-profit organisation which is dedicated to re-homing abandoned cats and kittens. I have to admit I’m not much of a cat lover – but I do love animals and quiz nights are a laugh!
Hero’s Healthy Pizza
I hadn’t tried Hero’s before, as they are all based south of the river. I really love their superhero mission to “commit to protecting the public from toxic, unhealthy, second rate pizza!” Brilliant!! I’m not a fan of Pizza hut/Dominoes etc Why would you even bother when there are countless gourmet pizza options out there. Hero’s say they omit sugar and salt, allowing the natural flavours of their fresh ingredients to shine.
They use Certified Organic Dough (White & Multi Grain), quality WA ingredients (like Amelia Park Lamb & Beef) and fresh Hand Cut Vegetables. They even have a kid’s range which tricks them into eating vegetables! The innocent looking sauce base is actually a ‘SUPERSAUCE’, a 99% fat free blended vegetable sauce. What a great idea!
The pizza was delivered from the nearby Como store.
We enjoyed nibbling on it between questions, we shared a few varieties…
The Super Ham (Hawaiian)
A tomato base which is topped with cheese, shaved leg ham and freshly cut pineapple. The ham was far superior to what you’d usually get on a Dominos/Pizza Hut type pizza. Very tasty.
The Snow Meat (Roast Vegie)
This is classic tomato sauce base which is topped with cheese, roast pumpkin, artichoke, pumpkin, eggplant, capsicum, cream cheese, sesame seeds and fresh basil. It did taste very fresh and the bases are quite thin. I really loved this.
The Date Vadar (Sticky Date & Banana)
We finished with a dessert pizza. Sticky date and banana pudding which was topped with caramel sauce and icing sugar. It was pretty good.
