Denmark is a little bit special. From the winding Scotsdale Road, lined with immensely tall karri trees, to the incredible beaches of William Bay National Park – the Great Southern town is an absolute stunner. Throw in quality wineries, breweries and cafes and you’ve got yourself an excellent spot for a holiday. If you don’t have time to make the four-and-a-half-hour drive from Perth – there’s good news. You can enjoy a little bit of Denmark in your home with Vinofood!
My favourite Denmark winery, The Lake House, is a picture postcard spot. As well as wine, they produce the yummy, wine-inspired Vinofood condiment range. There’s everything from scrumptious shiraz rocky road, to chardonnay chutneys, sauces, jams and more. You can even gift beautiful hampers from the Vinofood website. This tasty Fig, Apple and Chardonnay Chutney is so versatile. As well as being an excellent addition to cheese boards, the chutney makes a yummy curry side and fruit mince. Or why not simply spread onto crusty bread.
Lunch at The Lake House
Last year I enjoyed a sunny lazy lunch at The Lake House. Sat on the veranda, glass of wine in hand, ducks waddling around my feet – it was bliss. By the way, the excellent Lake House unwooded chardonnay hit all the fruity, flowery and spicy notes.
Lunch by the lake is a must. The Lakehouse specialises in platters and picnics. I shared a platter that was brimming with local produce, Mount Barker smoked chicken, a vegetable frittata, seasonal dip, smoked leg ham, antipasto, cheddar cheese, a garden salad and house baked bread. Plus Vinofood:
- beetroot & shiraz relish
- seeded chardonnay mustard
- fig, apple & chardonnay chutney
- wine jelly
- grapeseed oil vinaigrette
The Vinofood products are perfectly paired with a cheese and wine board, and make a great addition to a gift hamper. Find the delicious Vinofood products on their website. You can purchase Vinofood in specialist delis and grocers all around Perth.
