Aromas of Spain are bursting out of Pinchos, a small tapas bar in Leederville, where you can eat “Small bites to large plates and everything in between”. Think croquettes, meatballs, marinated prawns, salted cod and so many moreish morsels, as well as a range of Spanish drinks. The Oxford Street small bar is a popular spot, I’d recommend booking a table, unless you don’t mind eating outside.

Pinchos means “to pierce/spike” and the tasty bite-sized snacks are typically served on skewers in bars in Northern Spain. We were back at the tasty bar to check out their offering for Plating Up WA, for the month of June. A Buy West Eats Best initiative for West Aussie restaurants to showcase a dish that features our amazing local produce.

We love the Plating Up WA dish on their menu. Meaty chunks of grilled free range Linley Valley ‘Moorish’ Pork fillet skewers, topped mojo verde, are tender and juicy. We dip them into tahini yoghurt, or you can wrap them in the fresh flatbread with the zingy tomato and parsley salad and fig jam. Absolutely delicious!

As well as that, Chef and I chose a couple of small plates to nibble on. The croquettes were crisp, and filled with Spanish ham and chicken.

I also had to pick an old Pinchos favourite of mine… the pork belly. Chicharrones is a plate of deep fried pork belly, dusted in cumin. The deliciously crisp pork belly is tender and moist. So simple, and SO good.

The food at Pinchos is perfect to share over a bottle of cava with friends. Get in quick to try the delicious Plating Up WA dish this month!
