Servo, Leederville

Bottomless brunch, bottomless high tea, now comes my favourite incarnation – a bottomless arvo! You’ve got to try “Eterno – Endless Afternoons” at Servo, part of the Leederville Hotel. Two hours later? We walked out of Servo into the late afternoon sun, a little tipsy from bottomless cocktails, craft beer and a delicious parade of share plates.

Mr H and I got dressed up, ditched the car and hopped on the Joondalup line (sorry, Yanchep line). In no time we were strolling through the heart of Leederville in the winter sunshine. First, a quick stop at one of my favourite record stores, Urban Records. Then we were lured down Electric Lane by vibrant murals and the promise of a bottemless afternoon at Servo.

Found down Electric Lane, Servo is buzzing at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon like it’s 8pm. I love this vibe, mid-arvo, especially as I’m very much a pipe and slipper, in bed before midnight, kinda gal, these days.

The Leederville Precinct has evolved immensely over the years. The 2021 addition of Servo to the historic Leederville Hotel’s rear “Servo Yard” was the cherry on top. If you remember the ‘Old Leedy’ beer garden (circa about 2005), with a banging atmosphere – you’ll be glad to hear that still remains.

Servo is a room-y, light filled spot, with devils ivy draping from the high ceilings. We settled into our seats, clinked our first glasses, and time loosens.

Eterno – Endless Afternoons – The Drinks

The cocktail list is short, but polished: a Bloody Shiraz Spritz that’s berry-bright and not too sweet; a Yuzu + Strawberry Spritz that tastes like spring is coming; and the Solar Spritz – aromatic gin with passionfruit and mandarin.

Prosecco is on pour, and tap beers rotate, so the hop-inclined, like Mr H, are never left out.

If you’re alcohol-free, you’re not sidelined with a boring lemon lime bitters. Peach-and-jalapeño highballs and mandarin crushes bring the goods, minus the buzz.

Eterno – Endless Afternoons – The Food

We tore into wood-fired bread (excellent GF Turkish bread is also available) with a trio of glossy dips. Creamy tzatziki, earthy hummus and a silky roasted eggplant dip for the win.

Delicate mandarin cured kingfish crudo with buckwheat crunch, dill oil and just a flicker of jalapeño heat.

Then came the show-stealer: peri peri halloumi cigars with spiced honey (Mr H’s favourite)demanded messy fingers. They are crisp-edged, with a gooey centre and a more-ish sweet-savoury flavour.

A roast chicken breast followed; juicy and well-seasoned, layered over fennel, pumpkin and zucchini. A classic fattoush salad brings freshness: tomato, cucumber, feta and shards of pita for that essential crunch (can be made GF).

Gluten-free and vego friends are looked after. There are solid GF options. The team is happy to adapt plates where they can – like the most flavoursome bowl of Brussel sprouts for the cigars. And to think I rolled my eyes and laughed when our lovely waiter brough them over – how wrong I was! Just add your dietary requirements when booking, so the kitchen team can prep accordingly.

Dessert signed off the afternoon of grazing with a “chocolate and almond situation”. Think a very moist choc-brownie like-dessert, topped with a cloud of pink Persian fairy floss to finish on a playful, decadent note.

Eterno – Endless Afternoons – The Details

The menu shifts weekly, which makes Eterno feel like a ritual you can repeat without food déjà vu. The Boozy option is $99 and the boozeless (with excellent mocktails) is $65.

Sittings run for two hours on Saturdays only (2:30 or 3:00 pm), and it’s popular. Be sure to book ahead and note any dietary needs when you do; they’re accommodating. Cheers to that!

When the “endless” bit ends, you can linger in the Yard Bar for a la carte top-ups like we did.

We took a golden-hour wander around Oxford Street, reluctantly boarding the train home with that smug, full tummy contentment. I’ve definitely found the sweet spot of feeling like you’ve been out, but still being home in time to cuddle on the sofa with a movie (or in our case, watching the F1 qualifying).

Eterno isn’t just bottomless – it’s boundless: a compact, crafted afternoon that’s well paced and generous. I’d definitely recommend you grab your love, or a bunch of friends and book your spot for a fun afternoon of sipping and bites with Eterno at Servo.
