Big BBQ energy, countryside views and hazy days…

In my world, I don’t often return to a venue once… let alone six times. So this farmland favourite in Metricup is clearly doing something right! Sure, Margaret River is famous for premium wine, but we keep finding ourselves pulled back for the craft beer scene. This brewery comes with wide open spaces, a relaxed shed vibe, and food that’s way more considered than “pub grub”. I’m not a beer drinker, but I’ll always say yes to a brewery hang when the menu has smoke, char and punchy flavours.

Why do we keep coming back to Beerfarm? For Mr H, it’s firmly about two things. One of their many brews, the popular ‘Royal Haze’ is on tap, and the brewery’s famed lamb ribs, which have been on the menu for years. When a venue can consistently deliver a “we’re ordering that again” dish while still keeping the rest of the menu interesting, it earns repeat visits.

Beerfarm – The Menu

This time around, we traded our regular summer holiday lunchtime outing with four kiddos in tow for a chilled, May mid-week date for two. First up, but after a pint of Royal Haze was pulled, we enjoyed Beef bresaola, with a truffle mascarpone, pickled mushrooms, and pomegranate vincotto. This one is perfect for savoury snackers: paper-thin cured meat, topped with rich, silky mascarpone, earthy truffle, then that sweet-tart pop from the vincotto to lift everything.

Meaty smoked lamb ribs in a milk stout caramel, with fried shallot and sesame seeds are one of the main reasons people talk about Beerfarm’s food. Sticky-savoury, smoky, with just enough sweetness in that milk stout caramel to make the whole thing dangerously moreish. I will note that I was disappointed to learn the ribs are no longer gluten-free, as they were one of my favourite dishes. Mr H was stoked to get an entire bowl to himself!

Flame-roasted eggplant, with creamy labne, a herb salad, and topped with a crunch from spiced peanut praline. If you love smoky veg done properly, this is the pick. The labne cools things down, the herbs keep it fresh – I loved it.

Beerfarm’s setting is picture-perfect: a working-farm backdrop (walk in through the old dairy), that rustic shed-style space, and rolling Southwest views that demand you slow down, order another plate (or pint), and make an afternoon of it. There’s a bonus playground for families too.

Beerfarm – The Verdict

If you’re planning a Margaret River run and want one stop that nails casual atmosphere and genuinely good food, this is it.

We’ll be back again, and again, and again!
